These Worms Should Avoid Singapore

Conservation groups are seeking protection for the giant Palouse earthworm, which is known to spit at predators. A native of Washington state, the earthworm is remarkable not only for habits that are punishable by caning in areas of Asia, but also for being the largest, longest-lived, and most aromatic worm in North America. They can reach a meter in length and share the white color and sweet aroma of lilies. Supporters of the worm have filed a petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in hopes of getting it declared an endangered species. Read the full story in the Star Tribune.
